CRYSTAL 24, Marysville 2005

The 24th Biennial Conference of the Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand

CRYSTAL 24, The 24th Biennial Conference of the Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand (SCANZ), will be held at Marylands Country House from the evening of Tuesday 29 March until Friday lunchtime April 1, 2005.

We are pleased to announce that Gene Ice (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA) has been confirmed as the 1987 Maslen Fellow and will give an invited lecture at the conference.

Satellite Workshop

There will be a satellite Remote Access and Automation Workshop prior to the conference at the same venue.

Information for Speakers and Poster Presentations

Speakers:
Lengths of speaking slots are as follows:
Plenary – 50 minutes (Soichi Wakatsuki, Jean Doucet, Jamie Rossjohn, Gene Ice)
Keynote – 30 minutes (Mike Hursthouse, Bob Sweet, Mike Soltis, Nestor Zaluzec)
All others – 20 minutes
Please allow 5 minutes for questions.
A power point projector and laptop will be provided. Please bring along a copy of your talk on CD or memory-stick.

Posters:
The poster boards at CRYSTAL 24 will stand 2m tall. The display area is 1.8m tall by 1.2m wide (eg portrait format). The boards are Velcro compatible and sticky-back Velcro will be provided.

A limited number of trade stands will be available. Those accompanying trade stands will also need to register as delegates.

Daytime Meals & Conference Dinner

Lunch and morning and afternoon tea will be provided for all delegates at the conference venue. The conference dinner will be held at Marylands and is automatically included with accommodation fees for those staying at Marylands. For those staying elsewhere the cost is AU$55 (see registration form).

Transport

We are providing buses from Melbourne Airport to the venue on Tuesday the 29th March (departs ~ 2pm) and returning from Marysville to the airport on Friday 1st April (departs ~ 1.30pm, arrives at airport up to 3 hrs later). There will also be buses provided for those attending the pre-conference Workshop.

Favourable accommodation rate at Marylands

A favourable accommodation rate has been negotiated with Marylands for those wishing to stay at the venue for the duration of the conference. This includes breakfast, evening meals (but not drinks) and the conference dinner. Delegates wishing to take advantage of this should book directly through Marylands and will need to pay in full before the December 24th deadline. Rates (for Tuesday evening to Friday morning) are:
AU$421.20 – twin share per person
AU$605.70 - single for 1 person
AU$935.70 – single (double bed) for a couple

Cancellation conditions apply to Marylands accommodation bookings: full refund for early cancellations, 70% refund for cancellation from 60-30 days prior, 15% refund for cancellation less that 30 days before conference
